You do understand the the cartels are not just a bunch of guys in pick ups? They use armored vehicles, heavy weapons - Ma Duces and sisters, RPGs etc. In the case of Los Zetas they where trained by the US military a decade ago - before they went rogue and on their own as a major cartel.
They are in every city in the US and many small towns. Every city would need fully armed NG troops with shot to kill orders; there would have to be more than several mechanized divisions along the entire border.
Your roaming teams would be quickly overwhelmed and wiped out.
At that was before Biden allowed 5 million and counting illegals into the country.
the roaming teams wouldn’t be alone. they’d call in support if the numerous get out of hand.
as for teams in the US, they should already be identified by the agencies. taking them out requires the political will.
