No way they just leave. Contrary to the narrative, Putin did not do this as the first step of a revanchist Soviet Union. Ukraine was the last domino to fall, putting the NATO behemoth on his border, 300 miles from Moscow. He was forced to act. The situation is much more dire now for him and Moscow. There is no way Putin will live through a surrender and withdrawal. You must remember, NATO has escalated their proxy war with Russia all the way up to unlimited quantities of their most advanced, destructive conventional weapons. Russia has yet to escalate. Putin will escalate this before he dies. That escalation may very well eventually reach out to touch you and me and everyone we know.

Nato behemoth?

Nato had just about disappeared. All the major European militaries (save Poland) were cobwebbed and moribund. The single greatest expense item in Euro military budgets were pensions.

This argument is pure Russian propaganda.

And Ukraine has absolutely not received “the most advanced, destructive conventional weapons”. That is absurd. Ukraine has gotten very vanilla stuff, nearly all of which has been in service for 20 years or more. The HIMARS munitions with GPS (a very simple upgrade) were introduced in 2005. The basic system is the same as the MLRS of the early 1980s. The big ticket items were just plain 155mm artillery and its ammo. The HARM missile version they got is the AGM-88 from 1985. The Harpoons are of a similar age.

The US has not supplied the ATACMS munitions for HIMARS/MLRS, or the Russians would really have something to complain about. No tanks, no IFVs, no cruise missiles either.

You could perhaps expound on which specific weapons have been supplied and why they are so extraordinary.
