In other words you and NATO have zero idea what to expect. The Americans are the ones who’ve apparently insisted on surrender and withdraw as they torpedoed the peace talks in March. I fully doubt there has even been any consideration given to the prospect of how this ends. That is par for the course as they gave no thought to the dire consequences of their reckless and unnecessary plan to expand NATO into Ukraine. What about regime change? Truss is on board. The absolute best case scenario is this is a generational, continued $500M/day new Cold War quagmire. Otherwise, your idiots in Brussels and DC will have started WWIII over the continuation of “well SOB, the prosecutor got fired”. I see “surrender and withdraw” and ask why and how? DC will unquestionably make the final decision on how wide this war spreads and what the Russians must do to make it painful enough for Washington to surrender and withdrawal. That’s the childishness in me. You obviously have the sophisticated DC attitude that Putin will cry “uncle” and miraculously its 2019 in Ukraine again.

Nice try, Sparky.

No one expects Russia to surrender (though some of its troops have and will continue to do so). Surrender implies giving up one’s weapons and placing one in the hands and control of another. Russia is not going to do that in Ukraine, especially after all the damage and carnage it has created. But it is possible for Russia to withdraw from Ukraine and take its stuff with it. No one — especially Ukraine — is going to pursue the Russians after they have returned to Russia, and no one is going to start bombing Russian towns and cities if there is a Russian withdrawal from Ukraine.

Russia is a bully, and always has been. It has historically threatened its neighbors. Hell, in just the last thirty years Russia has invaded Chechnya (twice), Georgia, and Ukraine. But the thing with bullies is they never expect much resistance from its victims, but when there is resistance — strong resistance — Russia generally cries FOUL! Russia, as all bullies, will not attack someone who can fight back, but can also destroy it.
