When a 21-year incumbent politician is on the ballot, the election is naturally a referendum on the record of that person. In Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s case, the recent Senate primary show that a solid majority of Alaskans voted for someone else. This is the clearest demonstration yet that our citizens believe that it’s time for a change. With four candidates now left for the general election on Nov. 8, it’s also clear that I am the only viable alternative.
People are understandably used to voting for someone named Murkowski – Lisa Murkowski’s father, Frank, served in the same seat for 20 years before appointing his daughter to fill his unexpired term when he was elected governor. But Alaskans don’t like monarchies, and we can see that Lisa Murkowski has grown more and more liberal over time.
Ms. Murkowski may have started out as a moderate Republican, but she has increasingly moved toward the extreme left of American politics. She has opposed qualified constitutionalist judicial nominees, supported President Joe Biden’s agenda, and voted for Biden cabinet nominees who have declared war on Alaska’s resource industries.
She likes to call herself an “independent voice,” but when she consistently votes against the values of Alaskans, it’s obvious that her views are actually contrary to our own. This isn’t “independence,” it’s being more aligned with Washington, D.C. insiders than anything else.
Ms. Murkowski’s migration leftward has conveniently coincided with Joe Biden’s administration, which is populated by radical environmentalists, many of whom she blessed by voting for their confirmation. While she has supported nearly all of Biden’s cabinet nominees, perhaps the most egregious was her tie-breaking committee vote to advance the nomination of Interior Secretary Deb Haaland for final Senate approval.

Are we going to get screwed again like we did with Palin’s seat where Repubs get 60% of the vote but “lose” to a Dem?
Is it 3 Republicans and 1 Democrat running for the seat ? the democrat will win with the rank voting garbage
Are we going to get screwed again like we did with Palin’s seat where Repubs get 60% of the vote but “lose” to a Dem?”
Probably, one way or the other, since Murkowski is a Democrat, whatever she calls herself.
If Murkowski went swimming in the ocean, I bet a killer whale would mistake her for a walrus. Just saying.
Why is an Alaska candidate writing op/eds in the Washington Times?
“Why is an Alaska candidate writing op/eds in the Washington Times?”
The Washington Times is a conservative paper.
The Washington Post is a liberal paper.
It’s not a referendum, it’s a test run to show they can steal as seat for a RAT who has no support in her her state.
Is it read by lots of likely voters in Alaska?
its on the world wide web
please, please may Murkowski GO, now!
what a complete Embarassment she is
it is read by likely contributors perhaps. I don’t see how Murkowski loses with ranked choice voting. She already has a significant chunk of Republican vote and will be every Dems’ second choice on the rankings. I don’t like it, but it is what it is and probably better to focus resources on states where there is a chance.
“Is it read by lots of likely voters in Alaska?”
I don’t know. But I’m a conservative in Massachusetts and I read it. And have for years. And keep in mind that editorials are syndicated, to her article may be printed in local papers because of that.
Unfortunately unless something drastic happens to damage Murkowski’s standing she will very little trouble at all. She got 45% to Tshibaka’s 39%. The Democrat got 7%. Who among the 7% would select Tshibaka as their second choice? Virtually none, and she would not get to 50% even if 100% of them did. Trump’s rally had the effect of uniting all opposition against him behind Murkowski, whereas before it was highly fractured among multiple candidates.
