Actually I agree with much of this. I opposed invading Iraq in real time (as did Donald Trump); and, I opposed “Americanizing” the conflict in Afghanistan that Bush planned and Obama instituted (I don’t know that Trump expressed an opinion on that).
My position, like Trump’s, is a strong national defense combined with a non-interventionist foreign policy. As long as Kim Junk-un is effing only his own people. it’s not our business. It becomes our business when that little twit threatens us and our allies.
Just like Trump was realistic with Junk, he was realistic with Fooltin. Fooltin could eff his people all he wanted, but Fooltin wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine while Trump was President. He waited until Biden took office, because Biden communicated weakness. Weakness invites aggression.
But, guess what, Ukraine had another idea. While Biden offered to evacuate Zelensky, Zelensky stayed with his people. And, they, the people of Ukraine, rose up. They are still a Cossack people!
I’m going to make an analogy here: In WWII, Adolph Hitler thought he had only to kick in the door, and Russia would collapse. The fool! Russia was hit real hard by Germany, and things looked bad, but Russia didn’t collapse. Hitler met his match in Stalin and in the willingness of Russians and the other nationalities of the Soviet Union to bear the cost of defeating Germany.
Freedom isn’t for free. Freedom is for the brave! Let us cherish the freedom some of us have been given as a birthright, and let us be anxious for the day all are free.
