Why reasonable conservatives need to mobilize for Chris Doughty (the Boston Globe wants a 'reasonable' Republican)

It is time to reset the Massachusetts state Republican Party by pulling it from the grip of Donald Trump.

Massachusetts voters might be excused for not paying close attention to this year’s primary elections for governor. On the Republican side, former state Representative Geoff Diehl, who was trounced by Senator Elizabeth Warren in his last electoral outing, faces a political newcomer, businessman Chris Doughty. In the Democratic race, Attorney General Maura Healey is effectively running unopposed.

Polls widely suggest that Diehl will handily defeat Doughty on Sept. 6 and that Healey will then rout him in November. Yawn.

But in fact something important is at stake in this primary: the future of the state’s small and steadily shrinking Republican Party. For those who believe vibrant debate between competing political candidates is good for democracy, the Grand Old Party’s near-comatose condition should be cause for alarm.

"Democrats now outnumber Republicans among registered voters three to one. Less than 10 percent of the state’s electorate currently calls itself Republican. Matters on Beacon Hill are worse. Republicans now hold 27 of the 160 seats in the House and 3 of 40 seats in the Senate. Among the main statewide elected officials, only Governor Charlie Baker, who despite high approval ratings did not seek reelection, is a Republican."

And yet it never occurs to them that these stats are the result of RINOs controlling the party, including the 'reasonable' Charlie Baker.

Why exactly are there 27 Republicans in the House and 3 in the Senate?? And it's been like that long before Trump. Baker has been governor for 8 years and was also the Republican nominee in 2010. And before him 'reasonable' Republican Mitt Romney had similar Republican numbers in the legislature.

No! The answer is to rid ourselves of the 'reasonable' pantywaist Republicans that are indiscernable from the Democrats.

I'm voting for Geoff Diehl tomorrow!

The Globe is a Maoist rag and has been for years. Given that fact I’m suspicious of this endorsement. Does their main girl,Healy, really want to be up against Doughty or is that Maoist rag playing games with Trump supporters like me to get them to vote for her *real* choice,Deihl?

I really don’t give a rain who Healy would like to run against. I never fall for that backwards thinking.

I’m the Republican! Who do I want to be the party standard-bearer? THAT is the question.

And my answer is ALWAYS: never the RINO!

“Reasonable Republican”, in liberalville, is a RINO. Hawaii’s GOP has long been under the rule of THE ESTABLISHMENT in DC - RINOs, mainly because that is where their funding comes from. Hawaii has no REAL Republicans in office. Those who claim to be Republicans are RINOs and eventually become the Democrats they really are. Hawaii’s voter turnout has been the worse in the nation for decades because there is hardly any choice in candidate platforms. Big union endorsements are sought because it also brings a lot of “bribery” money to the campaign. Major news outlets bend over backwards to PLEASE the prevailing policies. It takes Federal investigations to uncover and pursue any government in Hawaii because everyone is tainted in one way or another.

You can be sure that the bull dyke knows who would give her more trouble....and *that* is the one I want. Just as W was at least a bit better than algore or John Friggen Kerry would have been there can be little doubt that Doughty and Diehl will *both* be at least a bit better than the bull dyke. So the one who has the better chance against her is the one i want.
