MOMBASA, Kenya (AP) — Rich countries said they will spend about $25 billion by 2025 to boost Africa’s efforts to adapt to climate change as the continent continues to struggle with drought, cyclones and extreme heat, according to officials at a summit in Rotterdam in the Netherlands on Monday.
If the funds promised at the Rotterdam summit are delivered, the decades-old goal will finally be achieved but African nations warn this will not be enough.
“Africa does not have the resources to tackle climate change,” Akinwumi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank, told the summit. “The continent only receives 3% of the total climate financing.”
Africa will need between $1.3 and $1.6 trillion this decade to implement its commitments to the Paris climate agreement, an annual cost between $140 and $300 billion.

Wait, it’s hot in Africa?
Next thing you’re going to tell me is that there are tigers in Africa.
Those funds will be used as effectively as the funds sent to maintain and upgrade the water plant in Jackson, MS.
They could just return to their pre-industrial culture and population.
Not sure where they would market each other as slaves now.
This will work just fine. Billions go to tin pot dictators to buy chalets in the Alps. They’re not hot anymore. Problem solved.
You mean lions, there are no tigers in Africa. :)
lol!
Africa can pay for African expenses.
Western countries have their own expenses to address.
🇺🇸 Over at CDN Climate Nexus — in first two minutes of video, fluctuation calculated, Zero increase in global temperature since 1982.
At the same time, exactly which day/month/year/century in earths history was there ever no “climate change”?
And as there has forever been “climate change”, what is an optimal temperature, and for whom?
Just asking for a friend... 🕶
“Africa does not have the resources to tackle climate change,”
Africans have a low opinion of Africans.
I will set my thermostats higher for a few months for a couple billion of that virtue signaling cash.
The money would be better spent on weapons to use on their Chicom overlords.
True that the Third World disaster relief money and food supplies for refugees nearly always go under control and exploitation by the dictator or guerilla leaders and nothing gets to the needy. Many cases of this in the past.
If these countries really cared about Africa they’d do something about all the slavery that still exists there at the hands of warlords and Islamofascists (none of them are white, btw). But they don’t and they won’t.
Africans have plenty of resources. Problem is that they’ve got plenty of socialism and presidents for life ... and they got those before they had build up local wealth to piss away on socialism etc.
The climate will cool if money is offered to help victims of global cooling.
