My thought too — they were props, actors playing a role, dressed in uniforms provided by a local theater troupe. If we’re right, and they were fakes, this may be even worse than (mis)using actual Marines.
They were real Marines, and that was the real Marine band. Just because they weren’t in a position designated in the drill manual doesn’t mean they aren’t real Marines. They do different drill and ceremonies at 8th and I.
