Russia’s capacity to export LNG is limited. Most of its natural gas exports, by far, have been through pipeline - overwhelmingly.
The great bulk of the Russian pipeline gas cannot even physically get to one of their limited LNG export terminals around St. Petersburg or Sakhalin. More than half of their former gas exports will have to be flared off, or the wells capped. So far they are flaring -tens of millions of dollars worth per day. If they cap wells, the are hard to restart, and after a winter, they are seriously trashed.

So they are contributing to global warming. That should make for a warmer winter.
