That reminds me of something that happened in Desert Shield/Storm. While deployed to an area near one of the ARAMCO oil stations, we heard the alarm to go to MOPP level 4 (full chem suit, mask...). We all frantically put on our gear and then nothing came of it. The next day, someone posted a cartoon on the info board with two scenes. The first had the Colonel on the phone saying “get me two scumbags to come mop my floor”. The second had a picture of the Command SGT Major on the phone yelling “two scuds are inbound, go to MOPP level four”. No lie.
