SHENZHEN - Most residents of the Chinese tech hub of Shenzhen went into a weekend lockdown on Saturday as mass Covid-19 testing kicked off in much of the city of 18 million people.
The lockdown, and the suspension of bus and subway services, came into effect two days after city authorities said rumours about a lockdown were based on a "misinterpretation" of the latest Covid-19 prevention and control measures.
Residents in six districts that account for the majority of the city's population will be tested twice over the weekend, helping to "minimise the impact on people's working life," the city government said in a statement published on Saturday on its official WeChat account.
"Internet users agreed, leaving comments that strengthening the prevention and control of the epidemic on weekends in some districts of Shenzhen is the fastest and most effective way to break the chain of virus transmission."
Those areas in the six major districts that have been classified as "high-risk areas" will remain in lockdown for seven days, with an extension possible if more positive cases are found, according to a Reuters review of district authority announcements published between Thursday and Saturday.

As of today, 3 September 2022, our "official" Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center still reports 14,941 deaths in China since the beginning of the pandemic.

The various "news" events over the last many months about China lockdowns, in my estimation, has been an attempt by the Communists to sustain the image of a deadly pandemic, in the hopes that Western economies will again lock themselves down and thereby inhibit their economies.

It's not. So one must ask, why? Why do they lockdown 20 million people over a handful of cases? What do the Chicoms know about this virus? Perhaps it's not just the flu, bro? A team of Indian scientists have documented at least four HIV-1 components in COVID-19 (good luck finding that research on Google). They also concluded that the placement of the four HIV-1 aspects could not have been done in nature. So here we have a man-made virus likely from a weapons lab with aspects of HIV-1 in it. Just maybe the reason the Chicoms take this so seriously is because they know whoever gets it will eventually develop serious health issues due to immune system problems a few years down the road and they are taking any and all steps necessary to protect their population, even at great cost to their economy.
