Gazprom: Nord Stream 1 gas to stay shut until fault fixed, "workshop conditions needed"

Russia's Gazprom said on Friday that natural gas supplies via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline would remain shut off after the main gas turbine at the Portovaya compressor station near St Petersburg was found to have an engine oil leak during a joint inspection with Siemens Energy, which maintains the turbine.

It said the turbine could not operate safely until the leak was repaired, and gave no timeframe for the resumption of gas supplies via the pipeline, which had been due to return to operation early on Saturday after a three-day maintenance break.

Gazprom said in its statement on Telegram that the oil leak detection report "was also signed by representatives of Siemens".

Gazprom cited Siemens as saying that the necessary repairs could only be done in "the conditions of a specialised workshop".

In a statement on Telegram, Gazprom provided what it said was a picture showing leaked oil on equipment at the compressor station.

It will take 3 years at the minimum. Besides, the EU said they don’t want Russian gas anyways so it can’t be a big deal, to wealthy folk that is.

It would be irresponsible for Gazprom to continue supplying gas when the turbines may be faulty.

It is best to stop all gas supplies until such time as one can be 101% certain about things working properly, even if this takes a few years.

There is NO replacement for Russian gas in Germany and other European countries. What can be replaced is far more expensive.

The idiotic sanction war with Russia has been a disaster and the results will be catastrophic in the winter.

The solution is end the sanction war with Russia, scrap the green agenda and remove those from power that supported either.

I'd rearrange those three items...first regime change in European capitals, followed by scrapping the green agenda, followed by (or coincident with) removing sanctions on Russian energy.

Chasing Olaf Sholz and his coalition partners from power would be a great place to start.

Vlad is trying to force Germany and Europe into using the new, but so far unused, Nord Stream 2 to get their gaz. This would be an admission by Euros that they cannot survive without Putin’s gaz.

Putin the faggy schemer. He lives for this jive.

Cheap Russian gaz is actually very expensive. It comes with invasions of Ukraine. Baltic States and more. Fortunately, his Army stinks from corruption, Vodka and thievery.

Vlad’s Stupid Slav irredentism needs a better army, so go hire 20000 Norks to come in and fight alongside the Muslim Chechens.

“Norway replaces Russia as largest supplier to Europe”

LOL. You propagandists are so funny.

Let’s say Europe was getting 100 units of gas, of them 90 from Russia and 10 from Norway.

Great news, Norway surpassed Russia as a top exporter....except it still supplies 10 units:))

LOL...and then they tell us that Europe has filled (or nearly filled) their gas storage tanks. Well, better than empty, I guess, but just how much do they really hold?

Answer: Roughly one month of normal consumption at winter rates (and roughly 3 months at summer rates). So too bad, Europe didn’t build enough storage to get through an entire winter without a decent incoming flow.

The gas storage is good for a few weeks. It is normally used to compensate peaks in winter. Saying that filling it means something is the same sort of propaganda.

Kind of like wanting to drive from NY to Los Angeles is an electric car. You spend weeks charging its battery, and then bragging on FR that the battery is charged so you’re ready for the big drive...just to find yourself stuck in Central Pennsylvania when the battery runs out because you can find a charging station.
