Deceased Gay Hyattsville Mayor Accused of Embezzlement

Former Hyattsville Mayor Kevin Ward, a popular gay local politician who shockingly committed suicide earlier this year, has been posthumously accused of embezzling millions of dollars from the KIPP DC public charter school network, according to a complaint filed by federal prosecutors.

According to a civil forfeiture complaint filed on Monday, Ward, the former senior director of technology for KIPP DC, allegedly used $2.2 million of school funds to make personal purchases while working for the charter network from 2017 through July 2021.

Prosecutors claim that the funds had been earmarked toward providing laptops, tablets, and other technology for children, but none of the products for which the school system paid were ever delivered, reports The Washington Post.

If anyone doesn't recall, this sodomite was found dead in a park known for queer hookups. Suicide is questionable.

The point is clear: don't hire, elect or appoint an open, proud homosexual. There was once a very good reason why government positions were closed to them.

I guess we’re just supposed to somehow know that Hyattsville is in Maryland.

Since it really wasn’t relevant, I didn’t feel the need to post geo details.

Did he now? If I were the embezzler or embezzlers I’d sure as heck pin the missing funds on the dead guy!

Good lord he was “

Ward, 44, was found in Fort Marcy Park in McLean with an apparent “self-inflicted gunshot wound,” said a spokesperson for the U.S. Park Police.” That is the same place Vince Foster’s body was found.

Hyattsville Mayor Kevin Ward (D), a two-term city council member who was elected to lead the Maryland community last year, died Tuesday.

Ward, 44, was found in Fort Marcy Park in McLean with an apparent “self-inflicted gunshot wound,” said a spokesperson for the U.S. Park Police.

His death prompted an outpouring of grief on social media from his colleagues and lawmakers across the state, who described the mayor as a dedicated public servant who deeply loved the city of Hyattsville.

“Mayor Ward was a valued and trusted leader and a fierce advocate for all the people of Hyattsville,” said the statement from the city. “We are heartbroken at this loss and extend our deepest sympathy to the Mayor’s family.”

Ward and his husband moved to Hyattsville in 2014, after adopting two sons. He worked as a consultant in educational technology and human services technology, and as a Ward 1 council member, he cited among his accomplishments co-sponsoring legislation to designate Hyattsville a “sanctuary city,” expanding civic engagement and working to ensure Hyattsville Middle School remained a construction priority.

“I am a pretty straightforward person. I believe in listening more than talking,” Ward said on his campaign website. “But when I talk, I am not one to mince words or tell people what they want to hear. I believe in doing the work. I believe that if I can help someone, then I can change her or his life.”

State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy (D), who called Ward a personal friend, said he had been unafraid “to live his truth as the first openly gay mayor of Hyattsville.”

“He will be missed for the leadership and support that he brought to Prince George’s County as well as the joy that he gave us with his radiant smile,” Braveboy said in a statement.

Ward became interim mayor at the beginning of 2021, after then-Mayor Candace Hollingsworth resigned. He won the May 2021 election with 58 percent of the vote.

“He was a wonderful partner in serving the needs of all our residents, and he accomplished so much for Hyattsville during his time as a Councilmember and his time as Mayor,” County Executive Angela D. Alsobrooks (D) said in a statement. “We will continue to uplift his family, friends and loved ones in our prayers during this difficult time.”

Maryland Del. Alonzo T. Washington (D-Prince George’s), who worked with Ward on initiatives including bringing a mobile vaccination clinic to seniors, described Ward in a tweet as a “wonderful friend, father, husband, and fierce advocate for the city’s residents.”

Ward was beloved in Hyattsville, said county council member Deni Taveras (D-District 2), who added that even when she did not agree with him, she “always respected his devotion to the community.”

“I stand with his family and his children and his constituency at this time,” she said.

Hyattsville City Council Vice President Robert Croslin will now serve as interim mayor.”It is with great sadness that we report that our beloved Hyattsville Mayor Kevin Ward passed away yesterday, January 25, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” the city said in a statement.

“Mayor Ward was a valued and trusted leader and a fierce advocate for all the people of Hyattsville. We are heartbroken at this loss and extend our deepest sympathy to his family,” the statement said.

“The City knows that Mayor Ward was a well-connected member of our tight-knit community and that this is difficult news,” the city’s statement went on

Before beginning his career in politics, Ward worked as a consultant in educational technology.

In 2014, Ward, along with his husband and his two adopted sons, relocated to Hyattsville and served on the City Council. As a city council member, Ward co-sponsored legislation to designate Hyattsville as a sanctuary city, and voted to expand the municipal vote to all residents, including non-citizen residents.

Throughout the city, Ward gained a reputation for being committed to working towards progress with dedicated service.

“I believe in doing the work,” he said. “I believe that if I can help someone, then I can change her or his life. This is why I dedicated my career to providing the best technology to education and human services, to help as many as I can.

County council member Deni Taveras (D-District 2) noted that Ward was beloved in Hyattsville and said that even when they couldn’t agree on public policy, she “always respected his devotion to the community.”

“I stand with his family and his children and his constituency at this time,” she shared.

Shortly after KIPP DC claims it went to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Ward, a 44-year-old father of two who previously served as a Hyattsville city council member prior to his election as mayor, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Fort Marcy Park, a public park in McLean, Virginia.

I wonder how much he embezzled from the City of Hyattsville. Someone should investigate. A thief is a thief, and opportunity is their bread and butter.

“his husband”

I cringe every time I read crap like this. I hope I never get used to it.

“Ward became interim mayor at the beginning of 2021..._

Busy man. Only took him a few months to steal 2.2 million. How did he ever find the time to cruise the parks, let alone manage the town? This is the kind of serious leadership they have in waterless Jackson, Mississippi where you have a better chance finding water during a drought in the Sahara desert.

It still hits me hard as the Orwellian nonsense it is.

At root, virtually EVERONE knows that a husband is the counterpart of a wife. You can't have one without the other, like you can't have a magnet with two negative poles.

Got a bad feeling about how those sons were treated.

Sodomites have been known forever in the intelligence community as risks, which is why they were not allowed into “intelligence” until Obama. Part of a Top Secret clearance evaluation was making sure you were not a Sodomite Liability.
