That’s simply not how RCV works.

The poll that nailed the race showed that if Palin made it to the second place, she would lose 51-49. That’s about exactly what happened.

It also showed that if Begich had made it to second place, he would have won by 10 points.

Why? Because the people who voted for Begich first wanted a Republican to represent them, but if they couldn’t have Begich, they didn’t want Palin.

If Palin had finished third, a much larger portion of her votes would have went to Begich.

Palin is the weak link, because there are a larger portion of Begich first choice voters who simply can’t stand Palin, versus the other way around.

Begich got fewer votes in the first round voting in both elections (Special and Primary) making Begich the weaker candidate.

Ranked Choice Voting is Anti-Conservative rigged voting.

Another way of explaining the result is that for 15,445 of Begich's voters their second choice was a Democrat instead of another Republican, Palin. So they are people that really aren't solid Republicans, but more like RINO voters.

The only reason Begich looks like he would have had a chance was because Palin's voters seemed more likely to vote Republican, and therefore less of them would have picked a Democrat as their second choice. If Palin's voters did what Begich's did he would have lost in exactly the same way that Palin did.

RINO candidates depend on highly dedicated Republican voters holding their nose and voting for them. When Republicans only vote for candidates they personally like, then RINO candidates will disappear.

“If Palin had finished third, a much larger portion of her votes would have went to Begich.”

This is the way it always works. Conservatives have no place to go but to vote for an assistant democrat. But assistant democrat voters usually flop to the real democrats when push comes to shove.

Of course, the assistant democrats whine hugely if conservatives sit out the race.

So the R party is only a party that gives mutual support to it’s various wings if an acceptable assistant democrat is nominated.

“That’s simply not how RCV works.”

I don’t really care how RCV works. Palin easily beat Begich in first choice. Begich split the first choice voting. If he would have dropped out, Palin would have won hands down whether it was RCV or not. Enough RINO Republicans would have held their nose and voted for her and give her a straight up victory. He was the spoiler and lost twice to her head to head.

RCV is a rigged system to give RINOs and Dem an unfair advantage. If RINOs want to destroy a conservative, they simple payoff another fake conservative to run (RINO) to split the vote and first choice. This is how your type of Republicans destroy this country and try to maintain power.
