In the final round there were 177,000 votes counted. 11,000 votes are termed as "exhausted". I am not clear what that means.
Did those 11,000 not have a second choice listed and thus were thrown out?
Or did their second choice not include one of the two finalists?
Either way the Democrats worked the system to their advantage as there was one Democrat against two Republicans. Yes, I know the ranked choice really means 'rigged choice", but having two Republicans makes no sense. Or was the "Republican" really a democrat?
Democrats fight to win, Republicans do not. We need to learn to fight like they do.
I'm tired of losing.
Why is there ranked choice in Alaska? This isn’t New York or California.
Yes—they did not list a second choice and were set aside. If half of them had listed Palin, or a fairly small fraction of the minority who listed the Dem second had listed Palin instead, she would have won.
We are a dumb party. We seem to have two republicans in many elections. And we have stupid runoffs in Georgia Alaska and other red states. We literally hurt ourselves. Very frustrating.
