Ukraine's counter-offensive in occupied Kherson is wrecking Russia's "thinly held" defenses in the region that was seized by Moscow in the early stages of the war, the U.K. Ministry of Defense recently said.
The British defense ministry said in an intelligence update Wednesday that Ukrainian armored forces have continued to assault Russian troops on several axes across the south of the country since Monday.
"Ukrainian formations have pushed the front line back some distance in places, exploiting relatively thinly held Russian defences," the ministry said.

As for your pic, why in God’s name, if we are going to supply the Ukies, don’t we at least send them a FEW heavier munitions sufficient to take out a large bridge without having to hit it 40 times in the same spot. Include a stern warning about not hitting targets in Russia with such, or the Ukies get no more.

* Some territory has been gained by the Ukrainians, but not yet any towns of significance.
* A bunch of things going boom in the Russian area of control, but not certainty what has been destroyed

I have to sympathize with the supporters of Ukraine. They have long waited for a glimpse of hope. Though this “offensive” is not what it seems and actually the Russian forces are taking out more weapons, command and control and personnel during this “retreat”, but don’t let that side track their joy. 3 days from now let’s see where the chips really lay, as best we can anyway from a myriad of sources in and outside the official narrative.

Ukrainian troops lost 1,700 people in two days during attempts to resume counteroffensive on the Nikolayev-Kryvoi Rog and other directions, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.
“During the two days of unsuccessful attacks on the Nikolayev-Krivoy Rog and other directions, Ukrainian troops lost four combat aircraft — two Su-25s, one Su-24 and one MiG-29. Three Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopters were shot down in the air. Russian troops destroyed 63 Ukrainian tanks, 59 infantry fighting vehicles, 48 other armored fighting vehicles, 14 pickup trucks with large-calibre machine guns and over 1,700 Ukrainian soldiers,” the ministry said in a statement.
The 57th Motorized Brigade of the Ukrainian ground forces was defeated near the Sukhoy Stavok village, the statement read.

Scores of dead Ukronazis, burned out Polish tanks, trashed armoured vehicles and howitzers and convoys of ambulances racing to the scene of the carnage from Odessa and Nikolaev. If the Ukrainians were not completely routed, let’s see a single photo of an inch of gained territory by the Ukes or a single Russian POW. Doesn’t exist because Ukrainian gains are nothing more than Daily Mail fantasy fiction.

On August 29, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a full-scale counteroffensive in the Kherson region. The offensive on the fronts was preceded by intense artillery shelling of military positions of Russian forces, as well as cities under Russian control.
In the morning, Ukrainian units with a large number of manpower, significant support from equipment and remaining aircraft, tried to break through the Russian defense along almost the entire front line. In the first day of operations, they succeeded in three areas.
On the Black Sea coast, Ukrainian forces failed to develop an offensive and dislodge the Russians from the village of Alexandrovka.
Another offensive was carried out along the Mykolaiv- Kherson road. Ukrainians made a breakthrough up to 10 kilometers, but the Russian Armed Forces successfully counterattacked and repelled them back. Fierce clashes continue in Pravdino and Soldatskoe.
The Ukrainian counterattack in Blagodatnoe also failed. The village has recently come under Russian control and they are still holding their positions there.
The main gains of the Ukrainian military were reported in the areas of Andreevka and Davydov Brod. Ukrainian forces still have their strongholds in the village of Andreevka located on the left bank of the Ingulets river. They established a pontoon bridge in the area and managed to advance to the east in the steppe. The Ukrainians broke through to the village of a Sucky Starbucks and knocked out the defense in Davydov Brod. Both settlements are in the gray zone. Neither of the warring sides holds control over them.
In the north of the Kherson front line, the Ukrainian army tried to break through the Russian defenses in Vysokopolya and Olgino, but suffered heavy losses and failed to advance. Fierce clashes continue as the Russian grouping deployed in the area was cut from supply roads by fire from Ukrainian artillery.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the Ukrainian counterattack in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.
According to the Russian military, the attempt to attack in three directions failed and the Ukrainian army suffered heavy losses. On August 29, Russian forces destroyed 48 tanks, 46 infantry fighting vehicles, 37 other armored combat vehicles and 8 pickups with heavy machine guns. More than 1,200 Ukrainian servicemen were killed during the day.
However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue their offensive and draw thee reserves along the entire southern front line, mainly in the area of Davidov Brod and Visokopolie. Despite suffering heavy losses in the steppes, Ukrainian forces are unlikely to step back. The bloody counteroffensive is vital to the Kiev regime which has to claim at least any victories on the front lines to prove the effectiveness of the multibillion-dollar weapons supplied by its Western partners.
