Personally, I don't like the added complexity. I pure electric car has fewer parts, ICE cars, especially those that don't over-rely on fuel-squeezing add-ons like CVTs, are pretty well nailed down and are generally reliable.
The hybrid car uses electric motors to move around a transmission, petrol engine and drive-train that straight electrics don't have. When the hybrid is running on petrol, energy is wasted hauling around heavy batteries and electric motors that standard ICE cars don't have.
