Until the last few years my initial reaction would be to support in theory the notion of monitoring 60’s artists for ‘subversive material’.
With the end game now obvious I believe every step in this direction was orchestrated for power and control, not protection of America. What a paradigm shift. The bad guys and good guys exchanged hats.
A lot of 60s music was anti-war. You would have had prisons full of musicians who were “subversives.”
