All honest people understand that the Democrats’ plan to pay off $10,000 in student loan debt for those earning less than $125,000 is incredibly corrupt. However, aside from the obvious vote buying, one reader, who wishes to remain anonymous, suggested to me that there’s a more nefarious purpose to all this. I thought he had a point, so I’m sharing it with you.
The obvious problem with the plan is that facial corruption: Democrats are taking taxpayer money to buy votes. There are other problems I’m sure you’ve seen discussed elsewhere: This is a tax and Biden lacks constitutional authority to impose a tax. Those who took out student loans to get a college degree are likely to earn much more over their lifetimes than those who didn’t, so the fact that their income is currently under $125,000 is just a moment in time. That means that they’ll have the money in the future to pay off those loans, but many of the people who are being taxed won’t have that future money.
We’re told that the fact that someone was stupid enough to go deeply into debt for a womyn’s studies degree shouldn’t be able to foist that burden onto people who, although equally young, made wiser decisions. The corollary is that those holding the debt were naïve and shouldn’t have to bear a burden made when they were young and ignorant. (Interestingly, the young, naïve, and ignorant argument never crops up in connection with so-called transgender procedures. In that case, you’re wise enough to know in the womb.)
And speaking of ignorant, we’ve learned that the Biden administration is ignorant too because it’s made a complete hash of things:

Why the round number of $10,000? No one can present any logic to this discussion.
If I were the new House Republicans in 2023...I’d walk in and write the budget and cut about 50-percent of the budget for student loans, just to see what President Biden does at that point.
It's about gradual public acceptance that under this Fascist Dictatorship EVERYTHING WILL BE FREE, IF you do what the gov't tells you to do, of course.. THERE ARE STRINGS ATTACHED when everything is free. FREE healthcare, FREE college, etc..

Spot on. Next up, socialization of utility companies, because 20 million households can’t pay their utility bills. Govies get more votes, imposition of social credit scores, and further compliance because now they will be able to shut off your electricity and gas if you are not compliant.
The left knows the current university system is unsustainable.
The threat from online education and the out of control costs for brick & mortar universities are leading in one direction...the end of brick & mortar universities.
The Democrats have talked openly that college tuition should be free. This would bring the university system into the gov’t. The gov’t would be the only authority determining which degrees are valid and which are not.
You can bet all the online degrees will be deemed inadequate.
I have no issue with forgiving student loans—but the money should be clawed back from the colleges that took it!

I agree, it’s a step on the path to free college for all. The first step was Obama taking over the student loan program from banks.
It can be used to say “I’m hungry “ too. Just not correctly.

This lefty plan is about as forward-thinking as free horses for all.
Colleges are an artifact of the pre-computer age.
Imho they will not last—there are going to be better, much much cheaper and more direct ways to meet the need for credentials.
This all has nothing to do with student loans. It has everything to do with destroying America.
The debt is already on the books. This just transfers it to where it will do the most damage.
That is my one sentence summary of exactly what is going on.
