Former US basketball star Shaquille O'Neal will help Australia's new government implement reforms for an Indigenous voice to parliament, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Saturday (Aug 27) said, standing alongside NBA Hall of famer.
Albanese’s centre-left Labor Party government is seeking a referendum, needed to change the constitution, on recognising Indigenous people in the constitution and mandating consultation with them on decisions that affect their lives.
Details on the so-called Indigenous voice to parliament will follow the national referendum on the question, which the government wants to hold in the parliament’s current term.

What would he know about Australian policy?
What would he know about aborigines?
Well, he prolly knows lots about social justice.
Wouldn’t Rev. Al Sharpton be a better choice? Or how about Rep. Presley or Rep Omar?
Read the article. He was apparently invited by the government there because of his previous involvement in similar campaigns elsewhere. He's not claiming to be an expert, but just expressing his willingness to help out by appearing in public services videos if asked.

Just odd that an American celebrity would be used for that rather than someone from Australia
I doubt it. Have you ever seen him?
Sucks of what happened to the Indigenous people but the best thing they can do is to move to the big cities and make a living. Instead of staying in the Outback (or whatever they may be located).
I seem to remember articles about the forced vaxxing and sterilization of these peoples.
Strange.
The gods must be crazy
How white Aussies who pretend to be Aboriginal are taking over universities and stealing high-paid jobs meant for real Indigenous Australians - and their numbers are skyrocketing
(sorry)
Did You Know...
Shaq (seriously) thinks the world is flat?
Newsweek has an article on it. He was giving an interview somewhere in Australia this week and the topic came up.
I know he’s very wealthy, mostly from endorsments, but I have heard him speak casually before. Let’s just say I doubt if he has to worry about paying Mensa membership fees this year.
He may know about social justice but he is a hardcore police supporter, and even has been deputized with proper training, as much as full-time deputies. So even if Shaq was a Sharpton-level, Maxine Waters socialist racist, he would still be deemed a white supremacist for his super pro-cop views.
Having said that, I’m looked to see if Shaq had done issues with American injuns, but don’t think he has, so I have NO idea what his position is. Frankly, they don’t need to remake the constitution, they should just amend it to include all native people like they did our constitution in the 14th amendment. What the commies REALLY want, though, is to give up a good portion, probably the MAJORITY, of land to the aborigines, so that the commies in the government get with thugs on the Aborigine board to screw over the Australian patriots by not allowing gas drilling or reasonable development. And unfortunately, I don’t think that Shaq fully understands the real deal going one here.
What would a millionaire basketballer know about Australian Aboriginals and our parliament? To me this behaviour is racist. It presumes affiliation and identification by colour. Nice to see the Prime Minister is getting a pasting about it fr some quarters.
“What would he know about aborigines?”
Probably a lot more than me.
I was going to ping you, but I see you already made it. 🤪🤗😆🤭😀
I don't think they have been too successful in adapting to twenty-first century life. I don't know what the solution is. If they want to stay in The Outback, there is plenty of room is there not?
The Aussie versions of Elizabeth Warren.
