Getting clearance means they’ve never been arrested for anything serious. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re straight arrows. Maybe they just never got caught.

Also, never assume that personal ability is the principal factor driving the award of plum assignments. Butt-kissing and exchanges of favors will never go out of fashion, especially in peacetime armies. Think of how Fredendall got to be head honcho presiding over the disaster at Kasserine Pass.

LOL, I guess you want to pin drugs on them, I just thought it was premature to be doing that and you don’t need to inform me about Special Ops troops, but I’ve never known one who became one because he kisses ass, nor had any of those with me when we did these kinds of foreign training trips, and only God knows what WWII Generals have to do with this routine NATO training activity.

Things can get so weird at FR nowadays.
