'He was toxic': Jared Kushner calls Steve Bannon 'a suicide bomber' and says the 'power got to his head' during his White House tenure as he promotes new book
Daily Mail ^ | August 27, 2022 | Stephen M. Lepore

Presidential son-in-law and former presidential advisor Jared Kushner spoke out about his often troubled relationship with ex-chief strategist Steve Bannon, whom he likened to a 'suicide bomber.'

Kushner, speaking on The Hugh Hewitt Show Friday, said that Bannon 'blew up' before father-in-law President Donald Trump fired the former Breitbart chief in 2017, according to Mediaite.

He said: 'Steve really defeated himself, you know. His head got so big he was just doing all these crazy things, and the ultimately just you know, like a suicide bomber, blew up'.

The former White House senior advisor, 41, referred to Bannon as a 'cancer' and a 'malignant' figure in his new book, Breaking History, which he spent much of the interview promoting.

Kushner told the president in an excerpt obtained by DailyMail.com that despite their feud, he didn't oppose a presidential pardon for Bannon, who had been charged with a fraud scheme related to an effort to raise private funds to build the border wall.

'Steve was incredibly destructive to your first year in office, but he was there for you on the first campaign when few were,' Kushner told the president, he writes. ...

Kushner believes it stems from Bannon's early support for his father-in-law: 'I think if you look at Steve … Steve was actually with us very early. He was great on the campaign. He was a great partner when it got to the White House. I think maybe the power got to his head a little bit or he just – it was being more of what he was.'

The Affinity Partners founder added that Bannon was 'undermining us, knife-fighting with colleagues and it just wasn't helping us implement the agenda.'

Before people go off half cocked about Kushner, understand that he was instrumental in achieving the Abraham Accords.

Working on the Abraham Accords during the final months of Trump's administration was a Big Mistake. The focus should have been on election fraud.

I think Jared had already decided that Trump would lose, and he wanted to use the final months on his pet project, the Accords.

Good for Israel, but America would have been better served by focusing on Trump's re-election, quelling the BLM riots, building a Wall, etc.

I tend to agree. Natural tension between pragmatists and idealists with strong personalities in the same camp.

Bannon is the main figure after trump working to make the changes Trump has brought to the republican party permanent. He is creating the ground game in all the states so that the changes needed are organic and coming from the ground up/ without the work Bannon is doing MAGA would only last as Long as Trump was in office. Because of the work on the state and city level getting patriots involved in government we will not have a situation Like we had with Reagan where after he left office The next republican took credit for Reagans actions while dismantling what he did.

On the "who would I trust most" scale...it's not even close.

Bannon has his faults...but I wouldn't trust Kushner as far as I could throw him.

One of Trumps biggest mistakes was letting the left and Kushner run Bannon off . Bannon is a genius !

I don’t think DJT is “listening” as in following Ivanka. He just doesn’t show approval or disapproval. He’s neutral.

Years ago, when I did a deep dive on Donald’s life, one of the things I found was him telling family members he would not tolerate a lot of drama between and among family members; no fights, no rivalries, no betrayals.

Kushner, in the arena of BRIGHT ideas and elevated intellect— is a copycat at best. A “white bread” jew-”ish” “intellect” in a whole wheat bread population of truly bright intelligent people.

Cannot forget where/what Kushner was doing with the news magazine he sold off, after his daddy went to the fed pen.

Daddy’s money. He may just be a nice guy and not bright, but he is fearful of people who are activists, conservative and anti-globalist rule. The lean to globalists in and outside the US was Kushners modus operandi.

It was reported that Ivanka's pleadings motivated Trump to bomb the Syrian airfield.

I don't know how accurate the report was, but it was an early example of Trump adopting Neocon type policies, despite his promise of less American involvement in foreign wars.

Power? By the time he got to the WH he was isolated, then fired.

Peter Navarro was not complimentary towards Jared Kushner saying he back channeled all Trump’s chiefs of staff, and that Kushner ran schemes similar to Hunter Biden to enrich himself through his daddy in law’s name. I wish Trump had not gone the nepotism route.

Someone help me out here, I’m a little behind on inside baseball issues; what did Bannon do to contribute to the administration that earned such praise, and what did Kushner do to earn such lurid invective? . I’ll wait.

We all would have been a lot better off if Trump had listened to Bannon and Peter Navarro and less to the vicious snakes he repeatedly picked up.

I hope he learned something from it but it appears Kushner still thinks he's a spokesperson. For what I don't know because it sure isn't MAGA.

Truly— Hugh Hewitt- a fake has been hiding under the Salem Radio shield. Sound of that voice on early morning radio, alone is reason not to listen. He has had good discussions with select Hillsdale College academicians. Verrrry intellectual Hewitt /s.

not nepotism and not “committee-decided” other offices, but there is so much one individual may do in the face of all these “offices”. Trump finally figured out that “ACTING” cabinet and other offices were people he could have without the Swamp deciding them for him.

Sessions should NEVER have 1.)followed Rosenstein’s manipulaton or 2.)adhered dog like to the “DOJ’s sacred rules” which Sessions cited for his recusal. Sessions being “selected” for AG by these same Swamp creatures because he WOULD adhere to rules made up by DOJ, not by law!
