“Watching 2 ethnicities argue over “who belongs here” and neither one is Native American or Caucasian. My how we’ve progressed in the great melting pot.”
A few weeks ago there was a news story out of California. Nobody in this news story spoke un-accented English. The reporter, the police, and all the witnesses spoke with what was most likely a Mexican accent. I was flipping through the TV one time and caught a show about what I thought was the Mexican immigration service. It was weird that they drove the same color vehicles that ours do, but they were all Hispanic and all speaking Spanish, even on the radio. I finally realized they WERE U.S. Customs and Immigration. We’re a melting pot, all right, but I think native born Americans are the ones melting.
Mexicans aren’t Caucasians? It’s complicated. Try watching telenovelas.
Whether comfortable or not to our modern sensibilities, throughout all of human history, ‘might makes right’ determines rightful land possession, not “who was there first” modes of thinking.
