I started catching on to the Russian strategy a few weeks ago. They pound the Ukrainian fortified positions, and then quiet down. The Ukrainians stick their heads up, see it’s all quiet, and start charging forward, into the open, making it easy for the Russians to rip them to pieces.

And the Ukrainians can’t seem to figure this out, so they keep on charging.

You got them mixed up. The Russians don't understand how precision HIMARS rocket artillery works so they keep sending convoys across the bridge at Kakhovka. And then they get killed.
