To the contrary, it might provoke the use of nukes. I mean, if the US wants to continue to escalate, then maybe just wiping out Ukraine totally would be a much faster solution instead of spending weeks, months, and years to fix a country that is NOT a NATO member, and that we have no business defending in the first place.
This entire thread was about US preparing a “Special Military Mission”, in Ukraine, that the start of my comments you somehow have taken it in a different direction.

Maybe so, but it is Biden-land. When he was VP and doing his thing in the Ukraine, one of the media said something like “we have two presidents, one elected and one actual, Joe Biden” - or words to that affect.

Advisors weren’t a problem for us in regards to Vietnam, just as they don’t cause us problems elsewhere, it was JFK moving 16,000 troops to Vietnam that got us involved in a war.
Actually it was Johnson’s big money backers in Texas who created this long war. First was the precursors of Halliburton, one of whom owned the Texas Book Repository, who probably arranged for JFK’s assassination. JFK was not seen as enthusiastic enough, and they wanted those big military construction contracts. Once Johnson was in office they got all the contracts they wanted. And we got all those deaths we did not want.
I think sending 16,000 American troops to the Vietnam war and contributing or participating in Diem’s murder did it.
No JFK=No Vietnam war for Americans since Eisenhower’s veep would have been president, no Vietnam war means no 1960s revolution, no 1965 Immigration Act, and America would have survived and would still be American with a lot smaller population and not be a bilingual country heading to being an unmanageable chaotic world of big government and local violence, large crime cartels.
