Nevada Republican U.S. Senate candidate Adam Laxalt released his first general election advertisement Monday, focused on how his upbringing impacted his life.
The ad, titled “Good Man,” features former Nevada Attorney General Laxalt and his wife Jaime, and will run on cable and broadcast across the Silver State.
“I was raised by a single mom with no college education. And as a kid, I didn’t know who my father was,” Laxalt said, later adding that his mother taught him “to face challenges head on and to work hard.”
“Adam’s early life wasn’t easy,” Jaime Laxalt added. “Adam dedicated his life to challenges he believed in. Everything he had to overcome helped to make him a good man.”

Really, why do lead with being a bastard and not even knowing who your father is?
Superb qualifications for high office.
The world is on fire, and our country is vanishing before our eyes, and this moron wants to lead his pitch to voters with “Let me tell you about my childhood?” Scratch that race.
“...Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) released an ad calling Laxalt’s upbringing “charmed” and pointing to his family’s political connections,...”
Probably not the best way for Lexalt to kick-off his media campaign, but not a bad idea to point out he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth as were many of the professional politicians of our day.
Why bring up his parentage?
Because he wasn’t just the son of a single mom. His grandfather was both a Governor and Senator from Nevada. His father, NM Senator Domenica, announced in 2013 that as Senator Laxalt’s colleague in the Senate he had impregnated Laxalt’s daughter. He comes from old Republican stock at the highest level.
This country is so screwed.

To add your name to the growing Nevada ping list, FReepmail me...
“His father, NM Senator Domenica, announced in 2013 that as Senator Laxalt’s colleague in the Senate he had impregnated Laxalt’s daughter.”
Say what? His father impregnated his daughter?
Pretty standard, good ad to start a campaign - biographical, highlighting military service, promoting him as a man who overcomes obstacles, etc.
And now we have ridiculous posts attacking him for things he had nothing to do with as though they were the fault of his own character.
Paul Laxalt, his grandfather, was a worthy man. Paul was the son of a Basque shepherd. My great uncles were also Basque shepherds in Nevada, of the same era. The younger stayed, the eldest went home to Vizcaya, while the youngest became an agronomist in Asia. Being Basques as I am, therefore, I have to assume some degree of value in the Laxalts.
Republican Nevada Senator Laxalt had a daughter, Michelle Laxalt. His Republican colleague, Senator Pete Domenici of New Mexico became friendly with Michelle. A bit too friendly.
I thought the Laxalt family in Nevada were patronage political people. Is he unrelated?
The people dropping demeaning and stupid comments about his birth situation are idiots. One of the qualities you want in a leader is someone who understands that little people with no connections can overcome adversity. Having no father present is one of the biggest hurdles a young man can overcome.
Shame on you for being such a retard about this!
The irony of all this is that both Paul Laxalt and Pete Domenici were really great, solid conservatives. Adam comes from good stock, even if he’s trying to cast himself as an up-from-the-bootstraps type or something. I don’t know. I wish him well, if for no other reason that the GOP really needs that damned seat.
His family situation has zero to do with my liking or not liking him as a candidate. I merely posed a question as to who picks these campaign people. I guess I did it in a retarded manner? 🤔✌
No aspersion to Governor / Senator Paul Laxalt. He was a very good man. I think Senator Domenici was also a good man. Senator Domenici came forward in 2013 to get ahead of the news being brought out by others with intent to harm reputations. I just think it is odd that the current Senate nominee brings forth part of the story when it raises the questions asked.
None of us is perfect. Hopefully Adam Laxalt did not suffer at last financially whil growing up and starting his career by the lack of that personal relationship that had been withheld. He obviously had the best political background from his grandfather’s side.
I agree and hope he is elected. There are so many issues to focus on, I just found it odd to raise the background issue without context, I.e., take his opponent’s attacks on his “charmed” upbringing head on - yes, his grandfather was the Governor and Nevada Senator and did a great job, but his mom raised him…..
Maestro is doing ads implying Laxalt was born with silver spoon in mouth.
Adam is a Nevada Basco. Got to support him.
