National Archives letter shows extent of classified material previously at Mar-a-Lago
ABC News / Disney ^ | August 23, 2022 | ByKatherine Faulders, Alexander Mallin

Former President Donald Trump allegedly had more than 700 pages of classified material in his possession, according to a May 10 letter from the National Archives to a lawyer representing Trump.

The text of the letter was posted by conservative journalist John Solomon on Monday evening.

The National Archives then posted a link to the letter on its FOIA website early Tuesday afternoon.

The posted version of the letter confirms ABC News' previous reporting that documents with the highest levels of classification, including some labeled "Special Access Program" were found.

While Solomon framed this as President Joe Biden taking a more direct role than previously known in Justice Department's investigation of classified materials at Mar-a-Lago, the letter actually shows how Biden deferred all decisions regarding executive privilege assertions entirely to top DOJ lawyers.

The letter provides insight into the back and forth between Trump's team and the National Archives and shows that even though the original 15 boxes were retrieved from Mar-a-Lago in January, federal investigators did not ultimately gain access to them until months later because of negotiations with Trump's lawyers.

The letter also reveals that DOJ and National Archives determined that there is no basis to assert privilege over the 15 boxes of records obtained.

The letter also makes clear that Trump's representatives for the Archives must have the proper level of security clearance to review documents they request to review.

As President Trump has stated all materials at Mar-a-Lago were declassified.

The New York Times report last night described materials “marked classified” it’s a deceptive semantic game being played here to portray President Trump in a negative light.

So, if Biden “deferred the decisions” how did he not lie when he claimed he had no knowledge of what was going on?

Litigation By Leak: Government Officials Drop New Details On Mar-a-Lago Raid While Continuing To Oppose Disclosures In Court

“Someone is clearly lying”

> by Jonathan Turley,

One of the most glaring contradictions in the Mar-a-Lago controversy has been the Justice Department demanding absolute and unwavering secrecy over the FBI raid while officials have been leaking details on the raid.

The latest example is a report in the New York Times that the Justice Department recovered more than 300 documents with classified markings, citing multiple sources connected to the investigation.

Most judges would be a tad annoyed by the contradiction as the government continues to frame the public debate with its own selective leaks while using secrecy to bar other disclosures. That includes sections of the affidavit that detail the communications with the Trump team, information that is already known to the target.
/snip/

[Conclusion]
It is litigation by leak where the government prevents others (including the target) from seeing key representations made to the court while releasing selective facts to its own advantage. It shows utter contempt for the court and the public. The question is whether the court will take note of this series of leaks. Most judges do not like to be played so openly and publicly by government officials. Moreover, the leaks should push Garland to reverse course as suggested in a recent column and order substantive disclosures in the affidavit in light of the government’s prior leaks.

Where Is Steven D’Antuono?

> by Julie Kellie, Aug 22

The head of the FBI’s field office in Washington, D.C., has a lot of explaining to do.

A few days after the Capitol protest on January 6, 2021, a tough-talking FBI chief with a Boston accent promised the American people that the bureau would spare no resource in hunting down everyone and anyone involved in the four-hour disturbance that day.
/snip/
The day after D’Antuono’s agents traveled from D.C. to Palm Beach to ransack Trump’s residence and abscond with, among other items, the former president’s passports, a federal judge in Grand Rapids, Michigan began jury selection in the retrial of two men accused of conspiring to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2020. A jury in April could not reach a verdict in the case against Adam Fox and Barry Croft but jurors acquitted their two co-defendants after defense attorneys successfully argued their clients had been framed by the FBI.

The FBI field office primarily responsible for running the entrapment scheme was located in Detroit—at the time headed by none other than Steven M. D’Antuono. Unlike his public self-praise for the FBI’s role in the January 6 investigation, however, D’Antuono has been uncharacteriscially mum about what the government considers its biggest domestic terror investigation in recent history.

That’s because it wasn’t an investigation; it was a set up. No fewer than a dozen FBI undercover agents and informants worked at the direction of FBI officials in numerous field offices to engineer the scam. Agents with D’Antuono’s office in Detroit hired and handled the lead informant, a man named Dan Chappel, to stitch the group of alleged kidnappers together over a seven month period beginning in early 2020.
/snip/
And a week later, FBI Director Chris Wray promoted D’Antuono to take over the FBI office in Washington, D.C. As Darren Beattie recently asked, why, out of 56 other field office supervisors, did Wray choose D’Antuono? And why was D’Antuono promoted just a few months before January 6, an event bearing many striking similarities—including fake militias and attempts to “storm the Capitol”—to the Whitmer fednapping.

D’Antuono’s fingerprints are all over this scandal. Regardless of whether the jury again returns with a deadlocked verdict or even a conviction, D’Antuono needs to be as forthcoming about his role with what happened as he is with the January 6 investigation.

It’s a joke.

Durham gave RussIan Danchenko over 1,000 Classified Docs.

Huma had Classified Docs strewn about in her car.

Hillary’s staff shot Classified Documents to who knows where.

Strzok didn’t want to see Hillary’s staff devices, and entrusted them to wipe them of their own accord.

Huma sent Classified Docs to Anthony Weiner, who shared his drive with partners and all kinds of programs on the Internet.

Comey was found to have taken Classified Documents when he left his position.

Strzok and Page used unsecure phones, Computers, and email accounts for the highest level Classified Docs known to man.

Hillary lied about hers - and then hired a contractor to destroy her servers and drives after denying she had a private server.

And on and on…

That would equal 66,000 REAMS of paper.

Duh. Of course Biden didn't personally make a determination of the legal issues, and nobody said he did. But he was clearly in the loop, contrary to previous denials of White House knowledge or involvement.

The divide in America is due to the inability of people to agree on facts. Everyone should read Solomon’s report or listen to him. He’s all over the news today. Maybe people simply need to learn how to read. I guess it would be helpful if leftists stopped changing the meaning of words. I guess John Solomon is around my age and when he writes he uses language that he has consistently used his entire life. I have zero problems understanding what he writes or says.
