Perhaps Xi is trying to destabilize Russia so China can get a more favorable government.
I’m pretty sure Biden and NATO have put Putin right where Xi wants him. The sanctions have forced Russia to sell Xi oil at a discount. Even with the discount, Putin makes more per barrel than ever before (due entirely to western sanctions). NATO has doubled the size of the border Russia must defend with Finland, Sweden and the the proxy war in Ukraine. NATO tech is rapidly depleting Russian arms. Xi is going to supply all the weapons Putin cares to petroruble purchase? Every bullet or rifle or tank or drone Xi sells means you and I have to match him for our dead beat NATO allies. All of this occurs half a world away from Xi’s Asian moves. Xi is using the Russians the way we are using Ukrainian boys, as cannon fodder.
