A Republican candidate gained ground against a Democrat candidate on the generic congressional ballot since May, according to a poll by NBC News released Sunday.

The generic Republican is ahead of the generic Democrat on the congressional ballot by two points, showing they took the lead, as both parties were tied on the May generic congressional ballot.

On NBC News’ August poll, the respondents were asked what was their “preference for the outcome of this November’s congressional elections… a Congress controlled by Republicans or a Congress controlled by Democrats?”

The August poll showed that 47 percent would vote for the Republican on the ballot compared to the 45 percent who said they would vote for the Democrat. There were also eight percent who said they were not sure.

When asked the same question on the May poll, the parties were tied at 46 percent, with eight percent who said they were not sure

Must be pretty bad for Dems if an NBC poll has Repubs in the lead.

In a toss-up year, Dems would be ahead by 2%. This due to the heavy Dem lean in higher population states like CA, NY, MA skewing the poll numbers. In 2016 Trump won a clear majority in Electoral Votes but Clinton won the total popular vote by 2%.

I think the Republican number on a generic ballot is probably higher, but this is NBC. Anyway a 2 point Republican lead is about a 4 point swing and it’s good news for Republicans.

Fauci has access to the real polls, he's out the day before the GOP takes over the House. It will be the only thing he got right in decades.

Funny how fickle the low IQ American people have become.

Or the phony polls are unreliable (popular choice here.)

The vast majority of Americans on the left and right already have their minds made up. The change in the polls reflect the swing voter (the segment of the population aka airhead suburban women that most every national election hinges upon).

You’re right.

Since my early political science classes leading to my degree long ago I have seen the “independents” or “undecideds” as the ignoramuses and the cowards. Dangerously swayed by emotions, TV ads, October Surprises and fake news——and then we have to live with their choices.

They want to show the Republicans ahead right now but as we get close to the election they will show the Democrats taking the lead so they can claim momentum.

Yes. The Rasmussen poll released last Friday has Republicans up by 5: 46 to Democrats 41 (likely voters)
