Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) on Sunday said it would be “very difficult” for her to support Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) or Ted Cruz (R-Texas) after they objected to Electoral College votes on Jan. 6, 2021.
Cheney told ABC “This Week” co-anchor Jonathan Karl that both Ivy League-educated senators “know better.”
“Both of whom know exactly what the role of Congress is in terms of our constitutional obligations with respect to presidential elections, and yet, both of whom took steps that fundamentally threatened the constitutional order and structure in the aftermath of the last election,” she said. “So in my view, they both have made themselves unfit for future office.”
Cheney also took aim at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who has recently campaigned in battleground states for candidates backed by Trump and is speculated to be weighing a 2024 presidential bid himself.
“I think that DeSantis is somebody who is, right now, campaigning for election deniers,” Cheney said on ABC.
“And I think that is something that I think people have got to have real pause about,” she continued. “Either you fundamentally believe in and will support our constitutional structure, or you don’t.”

Dunning–Kruger, anyone?
She strikes me as the female equivalent of John Kasich. They’re delusional when it comes to their importance and future un politics. No self awareness.
Kasich still pops off as if anyone cares what he thinks, even though he’s a big fat loser and always has been. Abraham Cheney lost her election spectacularly. It would cause a normal person to go into hiding for a while because of basic pride.
Yet she charges ahead. I’m almost embarrassed for her.
OMG Lizzy! Why do you have to open your mouth and spew this hogwash? You are acting like a petty high school mean girl that likes to bully other girls you think are inferior. You can’t keep the DC swamp Uniparty going forever! You made your millions so it’s time to bow out gracefully and go count your millions or something. Geesh!
Trump’s EXPOSED her DADDY.
Exactly.
I must have missed the election where we named Cheney the final arbiter of electoral propriety, but she likely lost it by 35 points.
Thanks for the tip. I hadn't realized that Bennie Thompson had objected to the 2001 electors. I did some searching online, and found the press release from the Congressional Black Caucus from January 6, 2001 which lists every member that objected to the Bush-Cheney electors from Florida. I called Cheney's office and left a message asking her if she knew that Bennie Thompson, the Chairman of the January 6th committee that she sits on, had objected to her father's Florida electors? I got some other things off my chest as well. I next called the offices of Senators Hawley and Cruz, and left a message about Cheney's comments against them both, and that I wanted to make sure they knew about Bennie Thompson's past elector objections, and what a hypocrite Liz Cheney is for going after President Trump, when all this time, she's been sitting on a committee chaired by a Democrat who objected to her father's electors in 2001 (and more than likely, also objected in 2005).
Congressional Black Caucus Press Release - January 6, 2001
The members of the Congressional Black Caucus who participated in the press release specifically mention in the opening paragraph: "There is overwhelming evidence of official misconduct, deliberate fraud and an attempt to suppress voter turnout by unlawful means that were used to produce George W. Bush’s false victory."
Yet for some reason, people are now being investigated for saying the exact same thing about the 2020 election.
Bye bye, Lizardbreath!
It was her father’s 2004 electors for Ohio, but same difference.
Well, actually the electors for the 2004 election were objected to in January 2005 by the Democrats. They did the same thing in January 2017 after Trump was elected.
