My company already had one layoff about a month ago. Seemed to layoff people who were spending a lot of their time in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion propaganda out company has been very very aggressively pushing.

They also issued a statement that employees needed to increase their productivity and that these DEI goals weren’t being dropped, but rather we needed to focus more on our production of products.

This is a fairly large company that does business all over the world. They said one of the reasons they were engaging in the DEI goals was that we needed our government contracts and that we compete directly with companies like Google, SpaceX, Amazon, etc. So to compete we have to comply.

I can see it now. Joe will claim some have lost jobs and some have gained jobs so the layoff rate is zero.

Do more work with fewer people in less time.

Large corporations are so realistic.

“DEI goals...government contracts”

That is the leftist stupidity tax—and is one of the reasons that China and Russia and other non western countries will surpass us in technology in coming decades.

It is like riding in a horse race carrying a lead weight on your shoulders.

There a lot of “help wanted” signs in my area, A lot.

But the world can change overnight.

“The strongest economy is one made up of small(ish) businesses that are always competing, inventing, and adapting.”

Since the Reagan administration the federal government has essentially stopped enforcing anti trust law. As a result most industries have become oligopolies dominated by a few mega companies allied with the federal bureaucracy to stifle competition and control markets.

The same situation occurred in the late 1800’s when the big trusts controlled major markets. Anti-trust legislation resulted in the be trusts being broken up to increase competition.

Break up Facebook, Google, Pfizer, ATT, Verizon, Comcast, Disney, Boeing, and the other bloated multinational companies stifling competition and funding the politicians who are destroying the country.

Janet Yellen will be along shortly to explain how widespread layoffs are a sign of a strong economy.

Ha! So, they admit to kowtowing to the absurd, leftist diversity training…and, that it’s a FAILURE, at the same time.

Incredible.

The beatings (layoffs) will continue until morale (productivity) improves.

Recession heading to depression.

I am not an economic guru, but we appear to be on the edge of a depression.

The numbers are not good across the board with debt of all types (public/private), another real estate bubble, and the struggles of small business and even corporate America (look at Target’s numbers yesterday).

Personal and consumer debt is increasing at the fastest pace in my lifetime as is the cost of living (prices of necessities).

In the midst of all of this we now have rampant inflation with government printing even more money as the Fed is trying to deflate the balloon that Wall Street depends on.

We now have political leadership that appears to be deliberately destroying our economy via policies. Our current construct as a nation is dependent upon unfunded mandates and liabilities kept afloat by deficit spending/printing money.

We have an enemy state, China, who are openly talking about our destruction and our economic health is intertwined with them. They also wield enormous power over our industries and even among our politicians.

Despite all of the bad news above, the thing that scares me most is that the people who have been wrong about everything for decades are telling us that there is NO WAY we could fall into depression.

The same people who have been wrong about everything for decades are telling us that we might dip into a recession but there is no way it becomes a depression. Examine their track record in recent history beginning with the 2008 housing crisis and on......

We should prepare now for what looms on the horizon.

A lot of the problem with finding employees is that many cannot pass a drug test.

I read how FDR kept the Depression going for like thirteen years; we were just about to come out of it in 1936 when he instituted Social Security and plunged us right back into it.
