WILSON, Wyo. — For much of the morning at the place where Liz Cheney was expected to cast a vote for herself in Tuesday’s Republican primary, there were more reporters than voters waiting to cast ballots.
Yet at times, the line to enter the barn-red community center in Wilson — a wealthy, mostly white enclave of fewer than 2,000 people at the base of the Teton Pass — extended nearly to the street. Longtime residents said they had never seen anything like it.
The voters who rode up to the city’s lone polling site in elite performance bicycles, Teslas and luxury trucks seemed mostly to fall into three camps on the polarizing issue of the day, Cheney’s reelection: Republicans who dislike Cheney and voted for her opponent Harriet Hageman; Republicans who admire Cheney’s resolve and bucked what seems to be the overwhelming sentiment in the Wyoming GOP; and Democrats who never voted Republican, but crossed party lines to support Cheney.

Teton County, home to Jackson, a new playground for the ultra-rich set against a breathtaking natural landscape, is unlike anywhere else in this heavy mining and agricultural state. It’s Wyoming’s bluest county, meaning voters here are more likely to be Democrats who voted for Cheney, an uncommon phenomenon that Cheney’s campaign encouraged.
Cheney never arrived Tuesday morning. The Jackson Hole News and Guide reported that Cheney had actually voted the day before at the Teton County Library.

VIDEO: Liz Cheney’s concession speech, comparing herself to Abraham Lincoln

Yup, sound like kalifornia transplants.
Their backing didn’t work, as Cheney got wiped out tonight.
Glory be! Wyoming did good.
Open primaries are the DUMBEST thing ever dreamed up, even more than rank choice!!!!!!!!
I’m disappointed she’s over 30% at the moment, but considering the lousy turnout in the D primary it does indicate she’s getting significant D votes. Which means she really was rejected wholesale by R voters despite the heavy advertising on her behalf. This is a resounding repudiation of her hatred of America.
Well , on the contrary, my son lives in Harriet Hageman‘s home County (Goshen county)
And Harriet is ahead of Liz 89% to 7% presently!
So, thankfully Liz is toast
OMG! Replace Abe’s head with hers on Rushmore! Glory, glory Howdeedoodee!/S
Tin Woodsman. He was strolling along one night...
I know most of you won’t care, but here’s another piece of good news from Wyoming: My district had a RINO snake named Bill Sweeney who slithered in some time past. Had the political stupidity to crow about being a “moderate” RINO in his campaign mailings, in Wyoming of all places. I see in the SOS results he’s losing by more than 20 points to a solid challenger, Bill Allemand. Another RINO bites the dust!
(Correction: Pat Sweeney, not Bill. Like I care, LOL.)
She compares herself to Lincoln because he lost an election for Senate, but ultimately won election to da big house, and kept the Union together, and called for a re-birth of freedom. There were slaves. He freed some of them, got shot and later the rest were freed in his name by constitutional amendment. The North won a fratricidal war, so the Union stayed together. What does Lizzy call for? A re-birth of crony capitalism and Orange Man Bad, and holding down the deplorables while Brandon-istas rape the whole country.
Ape-necked Sweeney! (some poetess’ name for TS Eliot)
Was thinking if W and Hitlery had a child....
I heard on the news today that the number of Democrats Wyoming halved.
“””I hope others besides myself will follow the voting results to see how many Democrats actually voted a Republican ticket today.
Open Primaries are a bad idea and we need to get rid of open GOP primaries”””
For the record I want to close out this thread with the estimated number of Democrats who crossed over to vote for Cheney. It appears 10,000 DEMs did.
2018 WY Primary Results
GOP Candidates got 107,000 votes
DEM Candidates got 17,000 votes
2022 WY Primary Results
GOP Candidates got 175,000 votes
DEM Candidates got 7,000 votes
Who cares the -itch is done.
And to think Dick Cheney once commanded respect. It’s truly amazing what hatred of Trump does to the brain.
