Sundance is a self-appointed Guardian of All Things Trump. He goes off the rails and sees plots where there are none.
And he has a weird vendetta against Ron. He’s flat out wrong.
I don’t agree with Sundance in that article he wrote, but I think DeSantis made a mistake in not coming out more strongly and publicly than he did. I read his initial statement, and it seemed a bit contrived by a committee for political purposes. And the problem is that no matter what, that standoffish attitude with this hot button issue simply invites turmoil.
Things like that are, to me, an unforced error. Everyone makes them, and Trump certainly does too.
But one of the things so many people appreciate about Trump is the concept of speaking plainly (even rudely) about something, and doing it in a prompt manner. (that turns him into a bit of a lightning rod, a role I suspect he enjoys, for better or worse) Many voters are tired of triangulation and the checking of the wind direction, which this mild response by DeSantis did bring to mind in some people.
I really like DeSantis. But in this, which I view as a seminal issue of our time, I thought he was too mild.
I understand that is my opinion, and others feel differently.
