I’ve seen entitlement estimates as low as 60% and as high as 84%. Here’s an article defending my point.

Make the income tax 1%. Then establish a 20% consumption tax. Promise a big rebate to the public for every department eliminated. Give them a ‘bonus’ check they can ‘touch and feel’. After 2 years the 20% tax can be lowered to fit spending That’s why we need these ‘bonus’ checks sent out. Skin in the game-heard it somewhere.

*I guess you didn’t bother to look at the links I provided.
Your suggestion attacks the wrong problem. It’s entitlements! How does your solution handle that?*

Those are details/too much information. We’ll have to work around the edges on entitlements. Millenials(40 and under) drop out of SSI and get a different system in place once they realize SSI is not there for them. Retirement income for government employees-cap it. Cut spending enough to grow ourselves out of our debt. Every baby boomer will have to be dead when the goal is reached. Could mean SSI limits to the rich. Kicking the can down the road on your entitlements won’t do-we can agree.
