Changing narratives? That’s very, er, Russian bot style.
The usual pattern is a variation on the theme of:
1. Nothing happened.
2. Fake news! Something happened, but not that.
3. Actually that did happen, but it was cigarette-induced accident and no orcs were hurt.
4. (After reading a text message from Moscow) It was enemy action. With our weapons. From our controlled territory.
5. (After reading another text) As we said earlier, Ukraine did it with their own long distance rockets.
6. (After a terse phone call from the Kremlin) As we said earlier, it was saboteurs.
7. (After another quiet word from the Kremlin) Rejoice, it turns out nothing was damaged.
(A few days have gone by and the attention-span-of-a-goldfish Kremlin has forgotten the settled official version so every version gets played out in rotation on Rossiya 1)
8. Aleksey Zhuravlyov, the guy who speculated that Russia would need to kill 2 million Ukes to win this war, decides they’re simply not being consistent enough. “THE NATO BASTARDS BLEW US UP AND THEY WERE HELPED BY TRAITORS AND I’M PERSONALLY GOING TO GET VERY ANGRY AND GO OVER THERE AND PUNCH ALL YOUR NAZI TEETH OUT.”
Given the sheer predictability of the pattern, it’s really not that surprising that the Russian propagandists here do the same kind of clown-dance.
