Arizona officials have decided that they are done waiting on the federal government to fill the gaps left in the unfinished border wall. On Friday, Arizona started placing shipping containers to block off the three remaining gaps along the border in Yuma.
“The federal government has committed to doing this, but we cannot wait for their action,” said Katie Ratlief, Governor Doug Ducey’s deputy chief of staff.
To block off the remaining border sections, Arizona is using shipping containers stacked on top of one another. The containers are 60 feet wide and 9 feet high. At the top of the containers, officials plan to place razor wire, Ratlief reported.
On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security declared that former President Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy would be coming to an end. The policy required illegal immigrants to remain in Mexico while waiting for their hearing dates in the United States.

Nielsen said the program would help regain control of the illegal immigration crisis. “Aliens trying to game the system to get into our country illegally will no longer be able to disappear into the United States, where many skip their court dates. Instead, they will wait for an immigration court decision while they are in Mexico. ‘Catch and release’ will be replaced with ‘catch and return.’”
The Biden administration’s DHS stated that the policy would be terminated this week because it “has endemic flaws, imposes unjustifiable human costs, and pulls resources and personnel away from other priority efforts to secure our border.”

How difficult would it be for someone to simply cut through the walls of the containers?
A simple chain-link fence would be cheaper and faster. 60 feet apart and patrolled with a sand track in the middle

Cartels will cut holes in the south sides and use them for office space and intel gathering. Except for the ground ones which will be used to as staging for tunnels.

It’s not as easy as it sounds. Just like someone trying to cut through the actual wall, it takes a lot of time, a lot of electricity (or compressed gas), and makes a lot of noise and light flash. I’m pretty sure the fence is under electronic or CCTV surveillance and they could get BP response there before it’s completed. It beats just having them just waltz in.
Illegal immigrants bring in drugs and overwhelm welfare, healthcare, education, courts and jail. What can go wrong?
In related news, illegal aliens climbed inside the containers, apparently hoping that they would eventually be put on trucks and shipped elsewhere in the country.
It’s important to remember that border walls, from the Great Wall of China, Hadrian’s Wall, etc., are not intended to be “impervious” to crossing. But to reduce and slow down the total numbers of invaders, or raiders, both crossing into and leaving from, an area.
It is the law of diminishing returns. That is, it is likely most cost effective to build a wall that reduces the flow of illegals by 40-60%. The best results for the dollar, as it were. But to reduce it from 60-80%, the wall will cost maybe *10 times* what the initial wall cost. 80-90% reduction in the flow will cost maybe *15 or 20 times* what the initial wall cost.
90-95% reduction will be ridiculously expensive, and far less effective, because the invaders will use other means than the walled border to cross.
That is, already a big chunk of our illegals enter legally with visas, then do not leave when they expire. The same with students. They are not stopped at all by the wall.
Likewise, adaptation and integration have to be calculated as well. Those aliens are generally regarded as very good potential legal immigrants, but have no reasonable means to get US citizenship.
This is kind of like “hardening” school buildings. It just slows the evil down.
Oh, as far as all the $$ being spent to “harden” school buildings? I guess that good but every twice a day every day there are over 500,000 school buses on the roads. That’s the soft target for the evil ones.
