I have been there and seen this base. There is no way to unseat the Russians from this Cold War era base. Will not happen. Article is propaganda, like most news on Ukraine. Yes there may be raids on Crimea. No they will not drive the Russians out.
I don't think that a majority of the residents ever wanted to join Russia. There was probably more desire to be independent of Kiev than to join Russia. The two are not the same.

There was a referendum with a 93% vote to (re) join Russia.
Kiev treated Crimea very badly …cut off water for crop irrigation, and cutoff electric power…restored by and from Russia
Life has been much better under Russia.
Kiev has not been a benevolent master.
