Thanks; I’m just too poor to replace it!

When law enforcement isn’t available, more crimes become capital crimes.

That’s why thieves are incremental murderers, in my estimation.

“Theft of property is theft of the money that bought the property, which is theft of the TIME it took to earn the money to buy the property, which is theft of a thing of infinite worth because it cannot be replaced.”

I’ve been saying this very thing for a long time. It’s not just “stuff” that’s being stolen. It’s slices of your life that you can never, ever get back.

Disincentivize the theft by going after the fences. Give the fences hard time in prison, forfeiture of all assets necessary to cover the costs that each individual bore replacing the converter; rental cars, time off work, etc.

Also charge the fences for all the carbon credits lost per vehicle for not having a catalytic converter.

The manufacturers need to mark each convertor as they did with auto glass and stereos to make them difficult to resell.

In the interim, install an aftermarket bypass pipe; pop out your cat, drive around for a year, put the cat in for inspection if your state has it, and then put the bypass pipe back in until next year's inspection.
