In Las Vegas, Nevada, it's come to this: climate change has helped make water ever more scarce, so under a new Nevada law, the grass has got to go. "When we look at outdoor water use in Southern Nevada, landscaping far and away is the largest water user, and of that, it's grass," said Bronson Mack of the Las Vegas Water Authority.
The city's already pulled up about four million square feet of grass on public property so far this year, because thirsty green parkways are something they just can't afford anymore. "The grass that you see behind me is not long for this world," Mack told correspondent Tracy Smith. "In fact, within the next couple of months to a year, this grass will be completely eliminated, and it'll be replaced with drip-irrigated trees and plants."
And every drip counts. So, water waste investigators (also known as water cops) patrol the neighborhoods, taking note of who's watering when, and how much of that water goes down the drain.
But it seems there are still those who could use convincing that climate change has become a climate emergency.
Last spring a group of scientists chained themselves to a Los Angeles bank in protest over the lack of action. "We're going to lose everything, and we're not joking," said one protester, Dr. Peter Kalmus. "We're not lying, we're not exaggerating. This is so bad, everyone."

“I was in Phoenix a few weeks ago, one thing I learned is, desert living is not for me.”
I go to Phoenix 2-3 times a year and I agree with you although mid-October through mid-April is great down there.
Why people live there is beyond my comprehension. 40% of Arizona is high plains and forested areas with plenty of water but only 12% of population lives there.
How many swimming pools are now drained?
Droughts are a natural occurrence that has been happening on Earth for millions of years. “Climate change” had nothing to do with it. Liberals need to read a science book sometime.
I always wondered if you just dug up all the grass around the 100’ x 100’ houses and put down astro-turf, would that suffice the HOA’s?
Nope. Swimming pools! Millions of em, but so “essential” and truly are refreshing!
I believe you.
The growing lack of water is more likely the real culprit (a number of documentaries out there covering such growing water problems over the years) but you know, the climate change folks got to continuously parrot the false gloom and doom climate change narratives.....
“Due to climate change…”
The BS is non stop.
Desert motif: Don’t forget the snakes and scorpions.
The sad thing is that if state officials were honest about the cause, they would likely get far more cooperation from the residents regarding water conservation.
Instead, they blame regional drought and water shortages on “climate change”. When people know they are being lied to, they naturally withhold their cooperation.
I first went to Las Vegas in 1986, not long after moving to Arizona. That was when you’d come across Hoover Dam and up through Railroad Pass and see the casinos about 20 miles away with pretty much nothing in between. During the years when I was going to Nevada and the Northwest fairly regularly, Las Vegas changed a lot. I haven’t been through there since 2017, and don’t plan to.
And your only club will be the sand wedge. LOL
“climate change” my a&*...
those in charge are getting better pay under the table to create chaos than we the people pay them as employees

Did people stop drinking it or adding it to booze?

So the lightning rod worked? 😂
It’s a freaking DESERT, for heaven’s sake.
Grow grass where it rains.
I sure hope all these democrat thugs who traffic it this garbage find themselves out of favor and run out of town. They are the enemy to a free society.
Good. Mowing grass is a pain in the arse.
They won’t let you water your grass, but stop me if I’m wrong, in some localities you get fined for not mowing your lawn (with a polluting lawnmower).
