My solution: Everyone living alone in a studio/one bedroom apartment takes in a roommate and shares the same bed. Gay/straight-doesn’t matter. Market forces will end the homeless problem. Plus they’ll be a whole lot happier!
Useful!
All I got from the article is that there has been a decrease in the rate of increase. I don’t understand how that is deflationary.
You’re going to start seeing more extended families living together.
It seems our residential neighborhoods here in East part of the City in San Diego are becoming shared home Airbnbs!!!!!
Airbnb’s are vacation homes right? That means 2nd home. Can’t have that while there are homeless out there.
Every city I’ve seen the past few years has a tremendous build out of apartments, many of which are now coming online. I think the enormous expansion in available units probably also has some effect.
Is there a move in the population, away from those areas?
Anyway, with the cost of living as it is, I suppose that tenants would be glad to have some relief on rent costs.
“… tremendous build out of apartments, many of which are now coming online…”
I live in northern Virginia along the new Silver Line of the Metro (Open in 2018!!!). Thousands of apartments have been built along the line. I don’t know how long the builders can hang on until Metro actually opens the stations. It might be a buying opportunity, since many of them are completed, but still looking for tenants. These have really nice amenities, but are poorly constructed and will be gone in 30 years.
I hate to say it, but I sort of hope they have problems, as that will cool the increases in our house assessment and property tax.
