I have only the following comments about, “Our government” since you seem to want me to address the issue.

All power structures, be they a Home Owner’s Association or a full-fledged government, have to be not only dictatorial, authoritarian but also totalitarian in order for their own survival.

That has always been and always will be. They survive only as long as people are willing to tolerate the abuse. When that breaking point comes then they will all resort to strong-arm measures followed by outright violence. Apparently, the people who are controlled by ‘our government’ have yet to revolt. It cannot come too soon for me. I felt that a revolt was necessary in 1964. I’m still waiting. ;-)
