Christopher Wray Dodges Questions on FBI Pursuit of Concealed Permit Holders’ Information
Breitbart ^ | 5 Aug 2022 | AWR HAWKINS

Posted on 08/05/2022 1:34:35 PM PDT by Mr. Mojo

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) called out FBI Director Christopher Wray during a hearing Thursday after Wray refused to explain why his agency is seeking information on Missouri concealed carry permit holders.

Hawley brought up the FBI’s pursuit of information on Missouri concealed carriers, saying, “Why are you asking for [this information] now, from the state of Missouri, from our sheriffs, when you didn’t ask for it in the past?”

Wray responded, “I’m going to have to get more information to be able to provide you a written response.”

Hawley followed up with another question. “What steps would the FBI take to be sure the information remains private, if you’re able to obtain it from these sheriffs all across Missouri?”

Wray said, “Again, the same answer, I really want to be careful not to speak when I don’t have all the facts.”

Hawley said, “Okay, so you’re not going to answer my questions.”

Wray shot back, “I am going to answer your questions.”

Hawley said, “Well you’re not answering them now.”

Wray suggested he was just going to answer the questions another way, rather than in person.

Hawley suggested Wray’s refusal to answer was because he was “under oath.”

“Ever notice that the guy running the FBI claims to know nothing about it.”

He should be impeached for gross incompetence since he doesn’t know what his own agency is doing.

Exactly, Hawley nailed it.

The bigger question is why is this POS allowed to “dodge” direct questions?

The FBI has morphed into the American Stasi.

It needs to be disbanded.

He’s obviously doing what people suspect he’s doing. He can lie under oath because “who is going to prosecute him?”

Why we MUST elect a Republican congress.

Even with a Republican Congress,the DOJ prosecutes. All Congress can do is investigate and submit a referral to the AG. We haven’t had an active competent AG in 14+ years.

Why do they even call Mr Potato Head to testify ... if they want any information, they should call his secretary to testify.

U.S. CODE
TITLE 2—THE CONGRESS
CHAPTER 6—CONGRESSIONAL AND COMMITTEE PROCEDURE; INVESTIGATIONS
Sec. 193. Privilege of witnesses
No witness is privileged to refuse to testify to any fact, or to produce any paper, respecting which he shall be examined by either House of Congress, or by any joint committee established by a joint or concurrent resolution of the two Houses of Congress, or by any committee of either House, upon the ground that his testimony to such fact or his production of such paper may tend to disgrace him or otherwise render him infamous.”

Simply look up Hinds Precedents, especially chapters 53 and 51, and Cannon’s Precedents, especially chapters 184-185. You’ll find numerous detailed cases of Congress asserting its power, arresting people, holding them until they agreed to answer questions, and then releasing them. Some of these people did not refuse to appear, but simply failed to satisfactorily answer questions.

Congress has the authority to arrest and imprison those found in Contempt. The power extends throughout the United States and is an inherent power (does not depend upon legislated act)

If found in Contempt the person can be arrested under a warrant of the Speaker of the House of Representatives or President of the Senate, by the respective Sergeant at Arms.

Statutory criminal contempt is an alternative to inherent contempt.

Under the inherent contempt power Congress may imprison a person for a specific period of time or an indefinite period of time, except a person imprisoned by the House of Representatives may not be imprisoned beyond adjournment of a session of Congress.

Imprisonment may be coercive or punitive.

In 1857, a New York Times reporter refused to say which members of Congress had asked him to get them bribes (protecting his “sources” just as various Judith Millers today protect the people who feed them proven lies that costs thousands of lives), so Congress locked him up until he answered and then banned him from Congress.

In 1924 an oil executive appeared but refused to answer certain questions, so the Senate held — literally held — him in contempt. Senator Thomas Walsh of Montana argued that this question of contempt was of the gravest importance, and that it involved “the very life of the effective existence of the House of Representatives of the United States and of the Senate of the United States.” The matter was taken to court, and the witness fined and imprisoned.

Christopher Wray should be forced to answer questions in front of a closed door congress committee R&D members.
He’s far to handy with I don’t know that or I can’t say answers.

He reeks of swamp odor

“The bigger question is why is this POS allowed to “dodge” direct questions?”

The DOJ/FBI were already bad, but haven’t formally acted subordinate to any Constitutional branch of government, roughly since 1994.

They basically smirk and laugh off the Legislative and Executive branches, and ignore state and federal court rulings which oppose them.

That is, unless they are busy attempting multiple coup’s, and political persecution of liberty loving conservatives.

I agree. While Trump or DeSantis is at it after 2024 elections, go after the head of the IRS and CIA as well.

There is a jail in the Capitol building. Can Wray be locked up until he answers the questions?

Wray refused to explain why his agency is seeking information on Missouri concealed carry permit holders
`````````````````````````````````````````````````
Any already acquired info should have been destroyed when Missouri went constitutional carry.
