Respectfully, I don’t care if Musk is Thomas Edison, Jonas Salk, and Werner Von Braun all rolled into one.

The Ukraine is not America’s problem. Let the Euros deal with it.

Its one world already, like it or not.

Maybe the US could have maintained its splendid isolation for a few decades more in the 20th century, had President Wilson not inserted the US into geopolitics in 1898, with his war on Spain, and Teddy Roosevelt kept it up with his “great white fleet”. By 1917 the US was deep in the mix and Wilson could not help going to war, because it simply could not permit he defeat of Britain. By then it was all going to happen anyway, the outcome of technology and economics, and because the US was simply too big in every sense.

The US was so big, in 1945, that it had to, by default, take over from Britain (which by then was too small) as the main guarantor of the international order. That is a role that someone will have, and you cannot just let it go to someone else, because there is no-one else acceptable to you and it absolutely can’t go to a committee. The role of maintaining the “Pax Americana” is really a tiger you are riding, that you can’t stop riding without risking disaster. It sucks but there it is.

Now, as we are all well aware, the US is decadent and corrupted and declining, and you are rapidly headed to an existential crisis, and one consequence of that is that you will be forced off that tiger. The consequences of THAT is going to pile on to your coming troubles.

But getting off the tiger isn’t going to help your domestic situation at all. Its not going to alleviate your cold civil war, or keep it from going hot.
