No, but we are not the world's policeman. We certainly put up with Brezhnev etc. running half of Europe including Ukraine for decades not because we liked the idea, but because a military response would make things worse. It is not a matter of "letting" Putin take Ukraine (or more likely PART of Ukraine), any more than it was a matter of "letting" Idi Amin take Uganda, or brutal Communists take over Hong Kong, or letting 800,000 Hutus and Tutsis slaughter each other in Rwanda.
Heck, we can't even set Afghanistan on a better trajectory after 20 years.
