I remember the scene in 1941, where the Japs are trying to bring a radio into the sub and it wouldn’t fit, and the captain said, “We’ve got to figure out how to make these things smaller!”
I have a set of impact sockets [from Harbor Freight - well before the the days of the ‘net] that were made in Japan.
Certainly no need to replace them.

It sure was. “Made in Japan” was a byword for cheap crap. We used to sneer that when things broke.
