One golden moment in the trial

Lawyer: one of the things you’ve been talking about on your show, is your allegation that government officials are aiding in child trafficking and grooming of children.

Jones: You mean like how Jeffrey Epstein did?

and whatever happened to free speech?

It never existed. We live in a mostly free, but not completely free society. There are plenty of things you can't say and do.

Although it's common to gripe about, most people have decided the benefits of living in modern society outweigh the unlimited freedom to rape, murder, and lie about the murder of dozens of children for ad revenue.

I didn’t follow this case, and I have no idea what Alex Jones said because I don’t listen to his show.

Did he slander or defame someone?

How is the plantiff injured in any way from some nut on a radio saying he thinks the whole thing was a hoax? Do they lose jobs, money or freedom? Do they lose respect from anyone they care about?

That seems to be a central point, to me.

The families are alleging that they were harassed and threatened, because of what Alex Jones said about them. Yet, one does not hear of the cases against those who harassed and threatened - which really are criminal acts.

Alex Jones is a well known extremist, frequently mocked, and never cited by respected media sources. Therefore, what he says seems irrelevant, and not worthy of damages.

I am not sure Jones actually harmed their reputation much...just his own.

That's the impression I have.

“metaphorically” is a nice choice of adjective. LOL

“The whole purpose of liability insurance is to cover CIVIL violations.”

Even then they don’t cover gross negligence on your part, and this kind of case would seem to fit the bill.

Generally, they DO cover gross negligence; what they may NOT cover (depending on the state) are punitive or exemplary damages.
