As I read it suspension is the only option Governor DeSantis has at this point. I imagine ways to fire the non-prosecuting prosecutor are being explored.

Several years ago, the FL governor suspended the Broward County elections supervisor. IIRC, the FL senate had to vote the elevate this via an on the record vote to actually fire the official. It's nice to have a republican senate combined with a governor with a very strong and loud bully pulpit to ram this kind of decisive action through.
