Yeah, this example is not about Left vs Right. THIS is where the shock of authenticity or fear shakes a delusional, narcissistic, cowardly, and/or mindless phoney to the core! Just wait until the first nuke explodes within our borders; We'll see hundreds of lefty partisans sober up and "get real", very quickly.

I do not expect to see any meaningful change of viewpoints by lefty partisans, regardless of trauma inflicted. "Cognitive dissonance" as a discrepancy between a professed belief and reality almost always gets resolved by firm denials of reality.
The worse the trauma, the more vigorous the denial. A psychotic breakdown limits the process, but you cannot tell what will come out on the other side of that.
Most people are incapable of fundamental change and just keep doing what they are doing, until they cannot do that anymore.
The exceptions are rare and very educational.
