Yes. The proper political response would have been that the peloisi family has been a great friend to China. Nancy Pelosi's husband has made millions from them. Nancy had a Chinese spy on her staff and helped him get away.
She is one of the best friends China has in the US and they will not harm her. This is all political theater for gullible people.
Newt was IMHO the best Speaker we have had in my lifetime.
His contract with America gave the voters a clear choice of the difference between Republicans and Democrats. They spelled out the Republican platform in plain English that anyone could read and understand. Then the US Reps signed their names to it saying this is what we will do IF you vote for us.
It was a brilliant political move and gave a clear majority win for the Republican majority Congress.
This clear win forced Bill Clinton to move more to the middle.
It forced him to sign a balanced budget.
It showed that the majority of the country is center right.
It changed the political landscape of the USA.
The Republican Congressional leaders since then have been milk toast RINOs at best. Including the one who most likely become the next Speaker.
