The Biden administration filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Idaho for restricting access to abortion to patients who need lifesaving medical treatment, the first such Justice Department challenge since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade this summer.
Idaho's near-total abortion ban, which will take effect later this month, would make it nearly impossible, according to the Justice Department. for patients who need an abortion in emergency medical situations, such as an ectopic pregnancy or other complications, from receiving potentially lifesaving treatment.

So our well-run, fiscally prudent state now has to spend OUR money to defend against a lawsuit from OUR federal government for following the Tenth Amendment.

Victor Davis Hanson has pointed out numerous times that 90% of all abortions were happening in blue states anyway. So very few people will have to travel to other states. Many red states have exceptions for rape, incest, and medical conditions, so the number requiring travel will be even smaller. There are many liberal organizations standing by to fund the needed travel. Many big cities in red states are close to blue state lines, so travel expenses will be minimal.
This is a completely bogus argument.

Removal of an ectopic pregnancy is not abortion. True. But, that doesn't mean that Idaho shouldn't fight this lawsuit to win. The left is expert at construing broadly passed laws to apply to things that they originally didn't address.

... hospitals receiving Medicare funds "must provide medical treatment necessary to stabilize that condition before transferring or discharging the patient," according to Tuesday's lawsuit."Stabilizing a condition" could easily mean NOT providing an abortion.
